Prevent google from redirecting to "local" google site.
I live in the UK, so normally when going to google.com, I get redirecteed to google.co.uk. This isn't too much of a problem as both are English, but if you'd rather search with google.com not google.co.uk, just add /ncr to the end.
i.e. go to http://google.com/ncr to search with .com.
Alternatively, below the search box there is a "go to google.com" link.
